"Kobanî is free!" As we speak on the phone, Mîste is overjoyed. After a gruelling siege, the Kurds have repelled the Islamic State from the border city. "It's a shame that you are in Brussels. The street celebrations were wild and full of joy, it was unbelievable !". Alas, I can only regretfully contemplate celebrations from my small studio in Brussels.
Thankfully, I return with many souvenirs. In the midst of my chaotic notebooks, I find a gift. A small piece of paper with a poem written in clear, neat handwriting.

A short notice by the author
Wherever my travels lead me, I always grab a few brushes and my watercolours. You never know what you will see. Years later, my old drawing pads become trusty old friends to whom I like paying an occasional visit.
As a journalist, I capture sounds, opinions, facts. As a cartoonist, I collect portraits and sketches. Both trades work together hand in hand in creating a story like this web documentary.
